Practicum Placement Positions
The CAPS at University Housing program, a partnership between Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and University Housing at SIU, is offering practicum placement positions for graduate students within human services fields. The program was developed to provide students within the residence halls with support and access to mental health services that will assist with improving retention, matriculation, and completing a degree. These are considered competitive positions for graduate students who demonstrate a foundational competency in clinical intervention, outreach/community intervention, and assessment, among other skills. Preferably, students who are selected for these practicum placements will have some previous clinical experience. Supervision is a priority at CAPS in University Housing and central CAPS, and as such, significant resources will be applied to practicum students in both initial and ongoing training. Direct supervisors are licensed clinicians.
