Reproductive Health Services

Southern Illinois University Student Health Services (SHS) is committed to ensuring that enrolled students have access to reproductive health services in accordance with Illinois law.

SHS provides access to licensed health care professionals authorized to prescribe contraception and provide reproductive health consultation. Contraceptive prescriptions may be filled through the SHS Pharmacy or transferred to an external pharmacy of the student’s choice.

SHS also provides pregnancy testing and pregnancy-related medical consultation.

Students seeking information regarding reproductive health options, which may include medication abortion, may schedule an appointment with a licensed medical provider at Student Health Services. Upon student request, SHS can assist with referral and scheduling coordination with a licensed external provider.

Students with questions regarding insurance coverage, privacy concerns, or available financial assistance options may speak confidentially with SHS staff.
