STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections) continue to be a concern for our students at SIU. One of the best ways to prevent transmission of these infections is through proper testing and treatment if needed. Student Health Services provides two different options for students to get tested, either through the Student Health Center Laboratory or through an appointment with a medical provider. Testing is completed through urine testing, swabs of potentially affected areas, and blood testing. Oral and rectal self-swab testing for gonorrhea and chlamydia is available.
A student can make an appointment with the laboratory only if none of the above is true. Testing through the laboratory limits testing to chlamydia, gonorrhea, HIV and syphilis.
Students can schedule an appointment through the Saluki Health Portal or by calling the Student Health Services Appointment Line at (618) 536-2391.
