Online Student Eligibility

Students taking a combination of both online and on-campus courses that are assessed the general on-campus fee are automatically eligible for all in-person Student Health Services. Please see applicable fee schedule for eligible students.

If you are unsure whether your on-campus courses have been assessed this fee, please contact the Student Health Services Administration (618) 453-3311, Option 2, and request assistance in determining your eligibility to access Student Health Services.

Students taking only on-line courses, and other students who are not assessed the general on-campus fees, are not automatically granted eligibility to access Student Health Services. However, current SIUC students who have not been assessed the general on-campus fee may be deemed eligible to purchase the Optional On-Campus Health Benefit.

  • Optional On-Campus Health Benefit: Purchasing this benefit is equivalent to paying the Health Center portion of the On-Campus General Fees directly to the Student Health Center. SIUC on-line only students who live locally and choose to purchase this benefit will have access to the same Student Health Services and the same fee schedule as a student who is automatically eligible due to taking on-campus courses. This benefit may not be practical for on-line only students who are not able to attend in-person services at the Student Health Center. Instructions and the registration form can be found here.

Virtual Services

Telemedicine is the practice of healthcare delivery, diagnosis, consultation, treatment, transfer of data, and education using interactive audio, video, or data communications. SIUC Student Health Center may provide telemedicine services for eligible students with medical or psychological conditions that can safely and accurately be cared for in this setting. Not all conditions are eligible for this for this form of care.

Counseling Telemedicine Visit: Contact CAPS, (618) 453-5371, to schedule a no cost intake appointment to determine your treatment options and recommendations. If it is determined that you meet the conditions to receive services via telemedicine, a follow up telemedicine appointment will be scheduled with instructions provided on how to access your appointment.

If it is determined that you do not meet the conditions for telemedicine, we can assist in locating a mental health professional in your area and review mental health treatment options.

Confidential Advocate Virtual Visit: Contact WHPS, (618) 536-4441 to schedule a virtual visit with our Confidential Advisor. Survivor-centered assistance is provided to SIU students that have experienced dating or domestic violence, stalking, and/or sexual harassment, misconduct, or assault while enrolled at SIU.
